On the morning of January 8, 2018, the 2017 National Science and Technology Award Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Party and state leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Zhang Gaoli, Wang Huning and others attended the conference and presented awards to the award-winning representatives. Li Keqiang spoke at the conference on behalf of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and Zhang Gaoli presided over the conference. A total of 271 projects and 9 outstanding scientific and technological experts were selected for the 2017 National Science and Technology Award. Among them, the project "Photoelectric Measurement Equipment and Industrialization of Complex Electrical Signals in Strong Electromagnetic Environments" developed by SIO won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
Before this award, SIO won the special prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2008 for its high-performance optoelectronic devices. Nine years later, SIO won the National Science and Technology Progress Award again for its outstanding contributions to the fields of smart grid, electrometallurgy and controlled nuclear fusion with its independently developed core devices and modules such as phase modulators, which reflects SIO's strong technical strength in this field and marks that SIO's design and manufacturing technology has reached a new level.
At present, the core optoelectronic devices such as phase modulators developed and produced by SIO have been mass-produced, and the high-performance fiber optic current sensor module products developed by SIO have also been successfully applied to many major domestic projects. SIO will continue to consolidate the military market while vigorously expanding the civilian market, providing stable and reliable optoelectronic devices and advanced intelligent optical sensor modules for the fields of power, metallurgy and nuclear industry.
